CL150 SPECIAL CROSS Stainless Steel Cast Fittings

Product Information

A "special cross" in the context of piping fittings typically refers to a cross-shaped fitting designed to connect four pipes of equal or different nominal diameters at right angles. When this fitting is specified as "stainless steel special cross," it indicates that the cross-shaped fitting is made of stainless steel material.

Stainless steel special crosses are made of stainless steel, which offers excellent corrosion resistance, durability, and strength. Common stainless steel grades used include 304 and 316.

The special cross fitting has four openings in a cross shape, allowing for the connection of four pipes at right angles. Each opening may have different nominal diameters to accommodate pipes of various sizes.

The SAE/ANSI 304 (AISI 304) is the most commonly available and used type of stainless steel. It is also referred to as 18/8 stainless steel, A2 stainless steel (as per the ISO 3506), or 304S15 (as per the British Standard). This is an austenitic chromium-nickel alloy which practically means that it has a very high corrosion resistance. It is also nonmagnetic and can’t be hardened through heat treatment. As AISI 304 can withstand extremely corrosive environments and can be shaped, machined and welded relatively easy, it is very popular for a wide range of applications.

Benefits of Stainless Steel Casting Screw Fittings

  1. Stainless steel casting combines good corrosion resistance and high strength, which allows the reduction in wall thickness and weight of pipe fittings. Besides, it can withstand very high flow rates, making it capable to withstand long-term exposure to the elements in almost any environment.
  2. Cast stainless steel pipe fittings can be used in all types of water, including drinking water in public supply. They have an excellent resistance to the full range of potable waters, including various chloride levels. At the end of its useful life, cast stainless steel is fully recyclable and retains a higher residual scrap value than ordinary cast steel.
  3. Stainless steel casting of pipe fittings requires low maintenance and does not need an additional coating, in both indoor and outdoor applications. The expected lifetime of a stainless steel pipe fitting is more than 50 years, reducing system down time, replacement and maintenance costs over the life of the installation.
  4. Last but not the least, stainless steel casting is afforable to produce any type of pipe fittings, and it can produce pipe fittings in both high and small volumes.
